Family Life Merit Badge Pamphlet

  As they use this pamphlet to earn the Family Life merit badge, Scouts learn the family is the basic unit of society and is important to both individuals and communities. They will realize why it is important to know more about family life, how to strengthen their families, and how to effectively explain and discuss: • How the actions of one family member can affect other members • How to conduct a family meeting that could include the topics of substance abuse, the growing-up process, body changes, making responsible decisions about sex, personal and family finances, family crisis situations, effects of technology, and proper etiquette and manners • What makes an effective father and why • Thoughts on the father’s role in the family, including the responsibilities of a parent This merit badge is required to obtain Eagle Scout rank.
